Plum Play – Dimensional Timber Guide

From the smallest baby swing set to the biggest Wildebeest play-centre, dimensional or ‘square cut’ timber is found in many of Plum’s wooden play sets. Dimensional timber is taken from more mature trees between 90 and 110 years old; this means it contains very little heart wood so is less prone to splitting.

Small openings and hairline splits will still occur when the dimensional timber becomes wet and then dries out. This can occur when the timber is doused in a rain shower then dries afterwards in the sun. Each Plum wooden play set has tolerances built into it to allow for natural occurrences such as these, they are designed to ensure that the structural integrity is not compromised.
